Living history
In Samburu culture, elders are deeply respected, and as one of the last two remaining founding elders of Namunyak Community Conservancy, Mzee Lemojong is described as “a blessing to us all”.

Did you know that at Sarara, we produce our own sustainable veggies without incurring food miles and importing fresh food from elsewhere? Our grow-house uses a tailormade system that is perfect for northern Kenya’s climate – and drought-resistant too!

Our first ultrasound device – a milestone for maternity care!
The Sarara Foundation celebrated a significant milestone last month with the receipt of their first ultrasound device, enabling enhanced care for pregnant mothers in the nomadic community

We are overjoyed to share that The Sarara Foundation will be opening our fourth nomadic Montessori pre-school here in Namunyak Conservancy in the coming weeks.
Honouring Namunyak’s Female Rangers
This World Female Ranger Week, we are so proud to honour the female guardians of Namunyak Community Conservancy, and celebrate the meaningful work they do every day. Through their empathy, compassion, strength and wisdom, Namunyak has become and remains a place of peace – just as its name suggests in Samburu.
