THE SARARA FOUNDATION’S
Nomadic Healthcare Program
Our nomadic and localised healthcare support is designed to focus on delivering world-class paediatric and maternal care to indigenous Samburu community in Northern Kenya.
Designed to support women and children, our healthcare program focusses on paediatric, pre- and post-natal healthcare, deep trauma rapid response as well as preventative healthcare education and training.
Healthcare for all
Five years ago, if anyone who lives in Namunyak Conservancy got sick, they had to walk 30km over a rocky, steep mountain pass to the nearest clinic in the town of Wamba. This included pregnant mothers.
Today, things are very different.
Every day, the Healthcare Team sets off in their mobile clinic to visit manyattas (homesteads) across the 850,000 acre Namunyak Conservancy to treat mothers and children.
Our core focus
We recognise the unique challenges of women in indigenous communities, which require a unique, womens-centered approach to healthcare and education. We aim not only treats symptoms, but to educate and empower women to be the drivers of their own futures.
Women are the fabric of a community and ensuring the health of the mother and child during pregnancy and at the moment of delivery is central to the development of society and are key indicators of social progress.
