Newly Resident De Brazza Monkeys

During 2020's third quarter, Sarara implemented two eco rangers, equipped with camera traps &handheld cameras. They’ve been conducting extensive wildlife monitoring, engaging with communities on wildlife issues & following leads of unique biodiversity reports.

The eco rangers have discovered a new, and never recorded population of De Brazza monkeys in the Southern Mathews Range! 25 individuals were recorded. This rare population is incredibly isolated, their range and behavior is not yet known. The eco rangers will continue to monitor and learn more about this incredible species.
