Teacher Stella Shines at International Montessori Event

We're incredibly proud of Stella Lenangoisa, one of our Montessori teachers, who recently received an invitation from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) to speak at their Annual Global Meeting (AGM).

The event, held in Delft, the Netherlands, from April 12-14, 2024, centered on sustainability and explored how the Montessori method can drive sustainable projects and initiatives under the theme "Nurturing Minds, Sustaining Futures."

In her presentation titled "Sustainable Livelihoods for Pastoralist Communities," Stella shared her journey from overcoming early life challenges to pursuing college education. She discussed the early days of The Sarara Foundation and how she and Teacher Judy Mugambi gained the trust of parents and the community after opening the first-ever nomadic Montessori school in Samburu.

Highlighting the unique challenges and successes of integrating Montessori principles within nomadic communities, Stella emphasized the transformative impact it has had in Samburu. Her insights on adapting education to diverse environments were widely acclaimed.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Fay Hendriksen, Head of Outreach at AMI, and Francescah Kipsoi, Executive Director of Montessori for Kenya (MfK), for their incredible support of Stella and our Nomadic Education Program.

Ashe oleng - thank you, Teacher Stella, for representing Samburu on an international stage!
