Beautiful testimonies of Loldikir from the team

“Loldikir was my close friend. He was my spotter when I was working as a guide at Sarara, and I fondly referred to him as the Leopard Whisperer. Loldikir had an exceptional talent for discerning leopards' territories and understanding their dynamics. His spotting skills were unparalleled, and even in his advanced years, he could distinguish a leopard's eye from that of any other nocturnal creature. As an all-seasons navigator, he had an unrivaled ability to find routes, even during the challenging times after rainy seasons when others struggled. Loldikir was a father to conservation here in Namunyak and also a mentor and trainer to all the new guides. We loved him so much and God loves him deeply, too.”

Peter Lenasalia, Manager at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary

“Loldikir's legacy will forever inspire and captivate those who were fortunate enough to witness his remarkable journey. With his unwavering dedication, his calm and steady strength, he carved a path that we all can thank him for as he played a critical role in forming the Sarara we know today. Ashe Oleng and Rest in Peace, Mzee Loldikir.”

Katie Rowe, Director of Conservation at The Sarara Foundation

“Loldikir was a pioneer ranger of Namunyak. Originally, he was who engaged in poaching as a way to make a living. But, during the establishment of the conservancy, he was singled out, trained, and employed to serve as a ranger. With his insider's knowledge of all the routes, hideouts, and tactics used in poaching, Loldikir swiftly led his fellow rangers to halt poaching within Namunyak in just a month's time. It was through his efforts that Namunyak came to live up to its name as the Place of Peace.”

Daniel Lenaipa, Guide at Sarara

“Loldikir was a great conservationist, and as an elder, he was an inspiration to me. He is one of the pioneer rangers of Namunyak Conservancy and he was deeply respected by the whole community for his contributions on conservation. Rest in Peace, Mzee Loldikir.”

Russia Lenanyokie, Keeper at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary
